The following is a guide to the raiding instance of Helegrod. What is covered in the following is not a “have to” in order for things to be take down, its the way we've found most effective and efficient.
Getting through the front door: Orc Drummers
The first set of mobs you encounter in Helegrod are 4 Master Elite Orc archers and 1 Elite goblin (who is greened out and can not be attacked). When you get close enough to the doorway the archers are in, a Master Elite Troll along with 5-6 Elite Orcs/Goblins will come rushing at you. Do Not Kill The Troll. Have a Guardian pick up the troll and drag it off to the side while everyone else handles the rest of the mobs. When everything is dead save for the Troll, move the entire raid through the doorway save for the Guardian with the Troll and a Minstrel or Loremaster to heal him. There you will find 4 Orcs banging on war drums. Kill the 4 Orcs then go back and kill the Troll.
Encounter 1: Servants 4
Just beyond the Orc Drummers you open a door and are staring 4 Arch-nemesis' in the face who will run off and get Elite adds when you enter the room. It is very important that once you begin this encounter everyone goes through the doorway. If someone stays outside and they get aggro the encounter will reset. Grisgart (White Robe ~ center left) and Ansach (Red Robe ~ center right) can not be Crowd Controlled. The other 2 can be. Kill the Elite adds first. Once the Elite's are dead work around the room killing the Arch-nemesis'. Kill Ansach last as he is the only one you can actually kill at this time. The other 3 will green out and run away.
Encounter 2: Storvagun
Heading north from the Servants 4 leads to the giants and Storvagun. Storvagun is a pretty straight forward fight. Send in the Main Tank and let him build aggro. It is advised to drag Storvagun to the rock wall so no one gets tossed off the cliff. When Storvagun gets to about 100k morale, he will green out, summon snow beasts to aid him (There are roughly 10~12 per wave), and also go into a rampage state not holding aggro on anyone in particular. The snow beasts will also toss so just be mindful not to be to close to the edge fighting them.
Encounter 3: Cold-bear
There is nothing really to note about Cold-bear. It is just a Nemesis and if you're lucky you get a pristine hide. or really lucky the axe but it has like a 2.5% drop rate
Iorchathol
Encounter 4: Grisgart
East of the Servants 4 encounter, up the steps, and through the door is the drake area. On the platform with Grisgart is 2 worms and 2 drakes. Surrounding the platform are a bunch of eggs that spawn hatchlings (4 per egg bunch) that the 2 drakes will try to wing-flap you into constantly. The most important part of this fight is to keep the drakes controlled with mez. The only mob that can be damaged at the start of this fight is Grisgart. Kill him and 2 Master Elite ghosts spawn. Kill both of the ghosts then take down the worms. Once the the worms are dead kill the drakes. When the drakes die, 1 more Master Elite ghost will spawn. Kill the ghost and the fights over.
Encounter 5: Zaudru
South-East of the Servants 4 encounter is the cave entrance to the lair of Zaudru. Zaudru is an attrition and attention fight. The fight begins when you pull the 2 Blood-sworn Elite mobs standing in front of Breosol. Breosol does a short dialoge then sends in 1 Master Elite Silk-spinner along with a 2 elite spiders and about 6 normal spiderlings. It is very important throughout this portion of the fight you kill the Silk-spinners last. Killing the Silk-spinner will continue the encounter. There are 3 more waves after the first. On the 2nd wave you get 2 Silk-spinners, 4 Elite spiders, and roughly 12 normal spiderlings. The 3rd wave, 3 Silk-spinners (pattern!), 6 Elite spiders, and roughly 18 spiderlings. The 4th wave is 4 Silk-spinners, 8 Elite spiders, and roughly 24 spiderlings. Once the last Silk-spinner on the 4th wave is dead, Zaudru will start moving. Once Zaudru kills Breosol he will come after the raid. Watch your debuffs. Zaudru has instant death poisons if you do not remove them in time (you have 15 seconds to notice it and get it removed). Milkthistle Draughts will ~sometimes~ remove the poison. Hunters should be watching the raid and using their cure poison. Lack of communication and a short attention span will get a raid killed fast on this fight. On top of the insta-kill debuff, you will also get AE rooted throughout this fight, as well as have to deal with adds. The first 2 sets of adds are normal spiderlings, after that it rotates between normals and about 8~10 Elites.
Encounter 6: Thorog
The main event. Before kicking off this encounter it is important that you go over the bridge that is on top of the entrance to Zaudru's lair (directly west from the entrance to the drake area) and kill the 4 Master Elite High-priestess'. This will not prevent Thorog from regenerating about 15k each time he flies, but it will stop additional healing. Once they are dead head back down to the platform for the Servants 4 encounter and move over to the coffin. You need to put the items in the pedestals (The Staff, The Crown, and The Ring ~ Which you received from Storvagun, Grisgart, and Zaudru). Once the 3rd item goes in, Drugoth – the guy in the coffin – comes out to play. Stack on top of Drugoth to kill him, ignore his adds, they run off when he greens out at around 3k morale. When Drugoth greens out, have everyone rush off the platform on the east side staying near the steps but spreading out. The only person on the platform at this time is the Main Tank. Give the Main Tank 10 seconds to build aggro, then everyone rush Thorog. The closer you are to Thorog throughout the fight the better (i.e remain in his shadow damage aura as much as possible). It will prevent him from using the 9k-15k Shadow Bolt. Roughly 1~2 minutes after Thorog starts fighting, 2 drakelings will add into the fight, coming down the steps from the drake area. When this happens, all but the Main Tank should pull off Thorog and kill the adds. When they die, resume beating on Thorog. Once Thorog greens out, everyone except the Main Tank needs to rush off the platform and stack up. At this points you receive 1 Master Elite Spider and 4 Elite spiders. Target the Master Elite to kill and AoE the Elites to death. You have roughly 30 seconds once Thorog flies off until he comes back down. When Thorog lands, no time is needed for the Main Tank to build aggro, just rush him. Repeat the process as many times as needed for the adds until Thorog is dead. It is very important you have Flasks of Conhuith for this fight. Thorog gives an AoE bomb debuff you have 10 seconds to remove. If someone dies to Finishing Bite, someone near them neglected to watch their debuffs. The debuff looks like a Bloodshot Eyeball looking to the top left corner of your screen. It is the only all white buff/debuff I have seen in the game. If you ensure that there is 1 Captain is in every group and they spam cast their Muster Courage when ever it is up, it will not only help resist to the fear debuff, it'll also remove it as well as other fear effects. Using Loremasters to transfer power and using blue conjunctions will solve any power problems.
**Edit** A few questions have been asked concerning the Thorog fight so here are a few tips.
Do NOT leave any adds standing. When the drake-hatchlings come out, kill them both then immediately return to Thorog. Same thing for the spiders, kill them all. Attempting to keep one of each add in a perma mezz the entire fight in hopes that you won't receive any more adds is a disaster waiting to happen. It also ties up LM's when they could be put to better use transfering power or assisting with spot heals.
Another useful tip, if 1 tank isn't doing it for you, try using 2 (both in front until dps goes in, then 1 in front ~ 1 behind). Make sure your burglars are spamming provoke on Thorog to keep hate on the tanks as well as stacking all their wonderful abilities onto Thorog. This will allow your dps train to go all out at all times without the worry of aggro going somewhere it shouldn't.
This guide needs some updating after the patch some changes occured on the Storvagun, Drake Boss and Thorog fight.
