Raids
The Raid DKP is based on a system that is already working for other games with a few alterations to make it work in LOTRO, there are many ways to gain DKP and to make it fair on players new or old the maths have been worked out accordingly. We understand that this game isn’t Raid intensive like other MMO’s so a lot of thought has gone into making a fair system:
DKP Basics
First you will earn DKP for coming on a Raid pre organized or not, if it has been organized and you have signed up then there is a bonus, likewise for turning up on time, you can not however turn up on time if you haven’t signed up, being available is not the same as committing. If you have organized and lead the Raid then you will receive points for your time and effort, likewise if you are asked to bring an ALT character you will be given points for your trouble, although it you may not have to lose the DKP for your intended toon, more expansion will follow. You will also gain points for the amount of time you are active in the Raid, and on teal drops that you do not obtain. When items drop you will purchase them at a fixed price (price list below) and the person with the highest DKP has first choice, if the item is class specific, only that class can roll on it if it is BOA, there can be exceptions if it is BOE that will be covered later. When a member of the raid spends DKP on a teal item the amount they spend will be shared among the rest of the Raid, i.e.: if in a 12 man raid someone spends 33 points they lose 33 DKP and everyone else earns 3 DKP, this is to encourage people to stay for more bosses and to ease the pain when you don’t win an item yourself.
DKP will be assigned to a character rather than an account to make it fairer for people with no/less ALT’s, there is also a maximum amount of DKP you can save up, this limit is 250 DKP helping to encourage players too use alts or spend points. When you have purchased an item in an instance, despite the amount of DKP you have, you will be put at the back of the list for another drop that Raid, allowing more people to win items. However if, in cases like The Rift, you have purchased an item like the “Near Perfect Sapphire” and later in the Raid the “Glinting Amethyst” drops and everyone in the group already has it, you WILL be able to buy both, even if it puts you in to negative DKP, you can’t go below -50 DKP.
Using Alts
People signing up for raids will have to specify which character they consider their main character, this can be changed after a month, however when coming on a Raid if you are asked to switch characters due to a lack of one class you can ask that the DKP you earn be given to the toon you originally intended to bring, also if a class item that is BOE drops for the class they wanted to bring they WILL be able to roll on it, however the WILL NOT be able to roll for BOE items that drop for the class they are playing.
Instances with armour sets
Instances with armour sets (specific armour that is designed to make completing the Raid easier), like the Rift, that drop in a constant order have had a system devised too ensure that buying items with DKP is fairer, there are 2 groups of drops, Group 1 includes the first 4 Gems, Group 2 includes the last 3 Gems, you can only purchase a Gem in group 2 once you have all the armour bought by the Gems from Group 1 (There is no particular order that the Gems in a group must be taken, the player with the highest DKP has first refusal on gems). Raid Armour is as important as having hope, wound, fear pots, etc, so we are all required to remember to equip our Raid armour if we do not wear it normally.
this is a must if you are lvl 50-55
when u are lvl 55-60 u are strong enough to wear you own gear that is earned in moria and when lvl 60 the radiance gear will help out more

If items are not wanted buy anyone in the Raid then the item will be taken by the Raid leader to be offered to the kinship or sold for the halls maintenance. These Raid rules are for kinship raids only and do not include 6 man groups or any instance that is not raided. For Raids in Ettenmoors players can either use these rules to ear DKP or use their own system which has been working well, where people roll until they win a teal, when the group all have one gem each everyone rolls again in the same way dropping out of the roll when they have one another teal and so on.
Signing up
Signing up for a raid is done through the forums, events will be placed on the calendar and a thread will be made on the forums for each event, those threads will have a sign up option, however once you have signed up please leave a note on the thread specifying which toon you wish to bring, please check to see what other people are bringing for example groups with 11 burglars are pointless, and signing up on a raid that already has enough of one class when you can come as another will not entitle you to the extra DKP when you are asked to switch to an ALT. If you do not specify which character you want to bring in the thread it will be presumed you are brining your main toon.
Leading A Run
We understand leading a raid brings with it a lot of unwanted decisions and hassle, so for this reason we want to reward those people who step up, organise and lead a raid. To compensate those poor soles who lead raids and put up with all of us, you will receive a bonus 10 points for that raid, this is awarded only once for that raid [not daily, but for the duration of the locks] Please try to allow others to lead the raids so they can experience all that LOTRO has to offer (leadership points can only be taken once every 2 weeks by a player to encourage new people to organize a Raid). If leadership is given to someone else for the raid due to a leader dropping out or being unavailable then the replacement will also gain 10 points, but again this will be applicable only once for the duration of the locks. The responsibility of the raid leader is to do everything they can for the raid to succeed, if members of the raid are unavailable and others have to switch then a reward will be given to them as stated above, however the leader may have to make the same sacrifice and will not be entitled to the extra points. The leaders should be able to run every aspect of the raid, this includes looting distribution (master looter), tactics, knowing the DKP rules, and group formations (numbers of classes), if you need help with any of these aspects please don’t be afraid to ask one of the officers to help you, they can explain what is needed and why, just make sure you do this before the night of the raid, if you do not have the information when the raid starts you will not be classed as the raid leader and an officer will take the role or elect another player to do so. Preparation is the key to a successful raid.
Most importantly enjoy the game and have fun.
