I'm having issues with my PC at the moment. As most of you know, I have a new build with Windows 7 as the OS, basically there was an issue with the build as I used my existing graphics card, a XFX 9600gt and the only way to put it together was to use Vista drivers. I am making the assumption that this is the bane of my problem, as when I attempt to upgrade the driver to a Windows 7 driver, the PC just stops on a black screen with a cursor flashing. I left it for over 1 hour, while I wacthed Top Gear, and it was still running. When I attempt to play LoTRO with the Vista drivers, the whole system stops. Until I figure out what to do, I will not be in game. Cya all soon

So, I did more digging and followed the instructions other people gave on forums and during conversations.
I used the device manager to uninstall my gpu, which it did and it runs on the windows drivers. I then do a fresh download of the driver (the most uptodate one) and when I apply the patch, the system crashes. Using the device manager to apply the patch gives an error message stating that something cannot be found (need to retry this one and look into it more).
Another thing that I tried, which included signing up to the website, I checked Xfx for their own specific drivers and guess what? If you guessed that they have no bespoke drivers for their card, you're right. They have NO windows 7 Drivers available for the 9600GT! Which means that if I cannot find what file(s) are/is missing, I will have to buy a new card.
Has anyone any experience with the ATI 4870 (1024mb) card, and can recomend a good brand. The same goes for the nVidia 250 series, though if I can get one, I am leaning towards BFG as the manufacturer. I have only ever had good experiences with the BFG series of cards.
