Well as the title has pretty much explained my reason for posting, I am trying to determine what faction the people within DT have chosen or think they are going to chose when playing Aion.
I'm currently undecided but swaying more to Elyos my current train of thought can be seen below;
Asmodians:
Pros: Their Lore is the better of out the two and it really makes you feel sorry for these outcasts and makes you want to fight for them. Cosmetically they look so awesome in high end gear... look at the Templar for god sake, point made. They have the dark and mysterious side which I normally go for in a faction/race.
Cons: Currently they out number the Elyos by about 10:1 on all forums polls (though these numbers have to be taken with a pinch of salt example look at WAR now Order out number Destruction these days) The Starting areas look a bit depressing (Though only seen screenshots)
Elyos:
Pros: Cosmetically beautiful and apparently have more customisation options at the moment than Asmo (This is the rumour on forums anyway) The Caster/Healers armour sets looks much better on Elyos in my opinion and that matters to me *Cough Cleric* (Screenshots) I have read pretty much all the quests literature up until about level 20 and the quests seem much more in-depth than Asmo ones (Again this matters to me, I like lore and stuff) The Scenery and Background Music is stunning!!! (Currently listening to all the extracted music files from Aion, Elyos music is by far better) Additionally the whole look and feel I get from them are making me remember my FFXI days and I love the entire collection Final Fantasy (so that's a bonus for me!) Currently through forums polls/statistics these guys are the underdogs, I want to win my battles with meaning not just because I'm part of a Zerg. (I love a challenge)
Cons: Their lore makes me feel like they are uptight somewhat like you know that German party from both the world wars begins with an N (I wasn't sure if the word was filtered or banned from this forum) Somewhat to perfect looking (Kind of makes me sick) Their not dark and mysterious
So now you know my dilemma, I will make my final decision over the course of Beta and hopefully I will get to play with all you guys and not against you
Other than this problem of mine, I'm actually really looking forward to this game now, maybe it will re-light my flame for MMO's that has been slowly dwindling since SWG/FFXI (nothing has even come close these games in my opinion back in their day)

I like your thinking, however depending on how people like both factions over the beta, this could all change when the game is fully released. I started with asmodian, changed to elyos and have now swung back towards the asmodians because in general I prefer the feel of their world and their city - in my opinion - pandemonium completely out-does the sanctum in layout and aesthetic appeal. I think it also depends on which server you choose. I started out on Ariel and was swamped by Elyos mages, however I switched to Fragion when it was opened as an Asmodian mage and it seemed slightly more balanced. Of course that could be due to people wanting to stick with the character's they've levelled over the beta events which is fair enough, but since they'll all be deleted and wiped clean anyway, it doesn't really bother me much. I'm curious to know if when the game is released, whether they will still allow you to play both factions on the same account as they do now. Would make the balancing act interesting, as long as it doesn't go the way warhammer went. But I guess it's just a case of playing what appeals to you most. Since I've played airy fairy elves for most of my mmo experience, asmodian seems up my street.

I'm trying not to level to high as when the game launches I want some early on story to look forward to but currently have a Eylos Spiritmaster at lvl10, Eylos Chanter lvl10, Asmo Cleric lvl10 and an Asmo Sin at lvl10.
I how know from these early levels that Scout and it's branches is not for me but at launch my main will definetely be a cleric and i will have Chanter and SM alts.
I'm going to try out warrior shortly and maybe choice Templar. I'm still like 70% Eylos and 30% Asmo. Asmodians are so boring lol maybe i'm the reverse to you Lilandrael as for most of my MMo existence I have played the dark/mysterious faction. So it's my turn to be the airy fairy type.

I think my highest level character is a level 14 Elyos Sorcerer, although my partner has an Asmodian one up to level 17. Since we're sharing an account at the moment, I've given control of it over to him - I'd rather experience the detail of the game at the launch. However I think my opinion of the Elyos may have changed slightly after getting this green armour set: www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=7722910&l=60454834be&id=845775382The girly in me can't resist the pretties ><

Woohoo 1 down x amount to go... I'm slowly converting these Asmodian lovers in the kin. On a serious note it would be very cool if we got an Eylos DT kin going. I'm 100% sure that I'm going Eylos at launch after this weekend so it would be better not to play alone Ohh forgot to mention my highest was a level 13 Spiritmaster in the end but I tried all branches except Ranger and Glad in the end up to 10 or above so think I will try those two next beta event just to rule them out. Main is still going to be a Cleric

Do the factions have different skills and different armour or is everything the same on both?
Hve been looking on screenies of the different classes and i have pretty much fallen for the spiritmaster, i want to master something hard and to fully master the four elemental spirits seems like fun.

I think they have all the same skills, but the armor does differ - These are the PvP armor sets that Gen put up dtemplarsclan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gaming&action=display&thread=1897 Haven't been in game yet to see how and if they do differ, but i'm sure Gen and Lil will be able to answer this better than me
Well if you preorder the game Curu you'll get access to the Closed Beta testing so you can have a go at deciding which class you like the most; is what I plan on doing

The skills for both factions are the same, but I do believe the armour sets look different. For instance cloth armour for the Elyos looks a lot different from the cloth armour for the Asmodians. I'm not entirely sure if they differ stat wise as I haven't took too much notice.
As for the closed beta, the last phase of closed beta testing begins on Friday 14th of August, until the following Monday. After that I think they will be introducing their phase of Open Beta testing, before the launch on the 25th September. Those with the pre-purchase/pre-order get a weeks early access to the full version of the game leading up to the launch, which is just as good for me being as my bundle of joy is due on the 27th >< and I won't have much time to play after that.

Well, what i have read about the skills is that some are different from the other fraction but are pretty much equal in power. I hope they decide to give out the skill difference for the spiritmaster at the realese, they seem to have plans to give a combined spirit depending on your fraction, a air/water spirit for the Eylos and a fire/earth spirit for the Asmodians, together with the 4 originals. My image for those two is a walking volcano and a raging typhoon. Well, hope they keep that idea.

Aww thanks a lot, I'll be sure to post some pics when he has arrived. We decided to call him Alexander, so watch this space I'm so huge I can barely sit at the desk at the moment so I'm looking forward to the day when I can sit down and have a good aion session Hope you're able to join for the final beta though, give you a bit of a taste of the game before release.

I have been a bit distracted the last few days so haven't been online, but to further assist Curu with his post.
The Spiritmaster was a lot of fun and in my opinion didn't notice any problems with my survivability and DPS but that was only up to level 14.
Also the Stigma, DP Skills sometimes differ between races/faction but the basic skill set is generally the same. Though the C-Aion did have racial skills for different classes and I don't know if they are coming at a later date or what not..
Lilandrail,
Good luck with your new arrival, its the best feeling ever!
