NOTE: These 6 tips are a summary of A Burglar's Life in Lotro and for new burglars in the kin this may come in handy.
#1-Always do the first surprise strike behind the enemy
Why? Well firstly it does more damage. In stealth is even better. If u have Diversion, Aim and Reveal Weakness use them in the following order to maximize your damage(must be in stealth mode). 1-st do Diversion(lvl18 skill) so he turns the back to you. 2-nd Reveal Weakness(lvl22 skill). 3-rd Aim to have a Critical Hit(lvl12 skill). 4-th Surprize strike of course
NOTE: 1.They may resist your Diversion. If so go behind him and strike him or wait until the cooldown on Diversion is over.
2.Aim doesn't always guarantee a hit it has like 4-5% miss chance but you'll get that very rarely
#2 When you have multiple enemies on you use Riddle or Startling Twist
Why? Well Riddle(lvl8 skill) is a 30 sec Daze. As long as you don't hit the riddled target he won't attack you.If you completed the deed Perplexing Riddle, for 5 seconds you will be able to attack him without him being interupted from the daze. A useful trick is to use Mischevious because it reduces the cooldown of the riddle from 1 minute to 30 secons basically you can always keep riddled a target, although you can't go in stealth mode.Startling Twist(lvl20 skill) gives the enemy an unbreakable 8s Stun long enough for a good burglar to finish his enemy.
NOTE:1.Some guys can resist riddles if so finish one of quickly then finish the other one. If you have more than 3 targets on you LEG IT or read tip no. 3
2.Startling Twist requires an active trick. Usually the best ones to use are Disable(lvl2 skill which cuts off 15% of the attack speed and melee damage of an enemy) or Counter Defence(lvl26 skill which reduces the enemies Parry,Evade,Block chance by an amount based on your level and increases the chance of a critical strike by 3%)
#3 When surrounded use Hide In Plain Sight(or H.I.P.S) or Touch and Go.
Why? H.I.P.S.(lvl30 skill) gets you out of combat and keeps you out of sight of the enemies for 10 seconds. after that you remain in stealth mode and move around but be careful after the 10 seconds pass you may get spotted if you in front or near an enemy. Touch and Go(lvl6 skill) is also useful because it gives you +50% evade chance for 30 seconds so now you have a better fighting chance.
NOTE:If you have a poison, wound, fear or disease that does damage or absorbs power while you use H.I.P.S. eliminate it with any type of wound, fear, poison, disease potion or else after the 10 sec H.I.P.S you will get de-stealth due to damage. There is an Improved H.I.P.S(lvl54 i think) which cures these type of debuffs.
#4 Always make use of Mischievous Glee and Find Footing
Why? Mischievous Glee(lvl10 skill) will give a small amount of heal but that's usually enough for you to continue a battle. Find Footing(lvl32 skill) will shake of any stuns, dazes etc. and give you a big heal plus 50% evade chance for 30 seconds. It has a big cooldown though 5 minutes.
NOTE:Mischievous Glee works like Startling Twist. It Requires a trick to be used.
#5When in a fellow keep an eye on the other's Morale or Power.
Why? Because the burglar is a Fellowship Manouver or Conjunctions (as they are called) opener. You have 3 skills from which 1 is a legendary. The first skill available is called Exploit Opening(lvl12 skill) and creates a 5 second opportunity for you to perform a conjunction. When someone has low morale I recommend the conjunction Pure of Heart(requires minimum five characters to be in a fellowship) which is Green-Green-Green-Blue-Blue; the last one can be any color but it is recommended to be Blue because it will give a little more power.Exploit Opening has a 5 Minute Cooldown. The second one is called Trip(lvl28 skill). It also creates a 5 second conjunction but the downside is it requires you to be in stealth for it to be used. I'll normally use it on bosses in instances to create a Damage over Time (DoT) conjunction where 3 press Yellow and three press Red. This skill also has a 5 Minute Cooldown. The last skill is called Exposed Throat and you get it by completing the legendary deed. Minimum level is 46 and it involves finding or buying from Auction Hall the tome Expert's Guide to Dirty Finding and the 8 pages that are missing from this tome. If you can't find on Auction Hall all the pages then there are 2 possible places to farm the pages. Angmar and Annuminas. Once you have completed the tome and completed the deed you'll have to equip it in the legendary slot for you to use the skill. Exposed Throat works only after you used Double-Edged Strike(lvl24 skill). Double-Edged Strike can be used after you use Burglar's Advantage(lvl4 skill) which itself it's useable after a Critical or Devastated hit. Exposed Throat opens up a 6 second conjunction and has a 10 second cooldown. All this three skills combined make of yourself a 1-shot Healer and Lore-Master because of you the others can get power and morale due to your conjunctions. Or if heal or power is not needed then do alot of damage. But I say keep the non-legendary skills because who knows?
NOTE:1.Exposed Throat deals alot of damage but doesn't always open up a conjunction.
2.If you are in the middle of a battle, you don't have a critical hit and exploit opening is on cooldown use H.I.P.S then Trip to open up a conjunction or use Ready and Able(lvl36 skill) BUT USE Ready and Able if both Trip and Exploit opening are on cooldown because this skill will reset all skills so now you'll have Exploit Opening and H.I.P.S+Trip ready to use.
#6 Always use Practical Joke when you have the opportunity.
Why? Well Practical Joke(lvl40 skill) makes the other players snezze.
It requires Stealth though but hey who said Practical Jokes aren't fun
Hope I've been of service for all wannabe burglars. Now get out there and start Fighting For Middle Earth and for the glory of Dark Templars or atleast my glory cuz u read this post
(for all staff members without a sens of humor that wuz a joke
