I decided to add something to the forum lore other then the standard "I'm in "
First of all this is a guide for higher level champs but you can use it at lower levels too.
The most important change since the diabolical release of vol2 book8 that concerns most of the champs is the Fervour incoming healing reduction -30%.
The following guide will describe my counter measures against the kamikaze champ class.
Like hunters use the stance dance us champs have to develop a similar tactic : During higher level instances the mobs usually hit you for 100-400 damage which is not that high but if you use the only thing that makes champs unique (AOE en masse) than u can easily have 4+ mobs on you. Tanks need time to build up their threat but we just have to use 2 aoe attacks to get all mobs attacking us. If the team you are in is a decent one then the following happens : hunter(s) will take one add off you and the tank will try to take the rest. If you are a decent champ holding your ground against 5 mobs shouldn't be a problem.
But if things turn bad you might wanna keep one eye on the minstrel and deactivate fervour to receive a higher heal.
If things look really bad u might have to get a little tricky :
If the team is wiping u might can use glory adamant and sudden defense this way u'll get a decent evade and parry chance so the minstrels can rezz or concentrate on you while others kill them off 1 by 1 you can also equip a shield if u have the trait
If you are dying then don't use glory, use controlled burn or just deactivate your fervour in both cases u have to use SD
Sometimes I can hear that others tell me to deactivate fervour and use ardour instead in my opinion that makes no sense cuz with the evade and parry reductions u still have just 3% chance to evade or parry u have smaller in-combat power regen and less fervour ...
In my opinion if u can spot the heals of the minstrel and deactivate fervour sometimes u can keep using it endlessly
The new Controlled burn personally I love it even more and use it more often obviously because of the 10 min cool-down instead of the 30 min. If you use it with the controlled fury trait it will be in effect for 3.5 min, but the cool-down starts when u clicked it so you can manage with 6.5 minutes out of controlled burn. Important things your legendary item fervour damage increase legacies will affect fervour also so if u have a +5% then not only your fervour will be +20% dmg but your controlled burn also
Champ threat: most classes think we blindly go berserk and damage everything in our way... most of the time it's true because most instances doesn't require any talent just blind dps from us champs. On the other hand sometimes controlling your threat is important and learning this after the hours of blind berserker rage can be difficult :
Weapons :
first of all the 1 handed vs 2 handed question. There is a reason why 80% of champs use 1handed weapons the reason is quicker fervour generation because with a 2 handed weapon you can start the fight with a wild attack for 500 (generate quite high threat) in the meantime the 1handed weapon users can use both a wild and a quick attack the damage will be the same but there will be 2 huge differences. 1st the generated threat will be much lower and the champs that used the 1handed weapons have 2 fervour...
weapons of choice : most people (me included) choose the weapon they like. Unfortunately this might not be the best way to use your class the most efficiently. Axes vs Swords - I've used both before so can tell that the only major difference is the auto attack in between the skills if you use axes u don't auto attack as often with swords this can sound cool but the auto attack takes time and the Axe using champ will be able to generate higher fervour (in addition to charming chicks [Axe - ha-ha]) Unfortunately i lack the appropriate legendary weapons to test this but the axes sound more efficient.
//will add more later I'm fed up with writing//
