in this fight u can get the cloak of shadow and flames
and if we dont kill him in a certain way and that means a fail as he burns the cloak this will be our reward then
i want to do this boss to get that Cloak of shadow and flames
i believe its a repeatable Quest at the reflecting pool so we can do it as many times as we want
there are a few theories as to do this boss
Singed Cloak *or* the more desirable Cloak of Shadow and Flame. Unknown what causes the Shadow and Flame cloak to drop, although there are theories that the boss must be killed in fire mode (or while not in fire mode) to make it drop. Keeping the two allied Grims alive or killing one/both of them is another group of theories.
or some even say he has to be killed in a certain time to get the good cloak
Special note
This boss changes both in appearance and *level* throughout the fight. He emerges from a portal at lvl 62, with 78,380 max morale, and 10,375 max power. Later in the fight, he no longer appears to be a nemesis, but an elite master of lvl 60, with only 16,794 max morale, and 1,595 max power. He also transforms from ethereal-looking to having a skin of fire.
this is some thing i found on the forums
Gwathnor gradually builds a buff and aoe from grims of opposite type: Fire buff from shadow grim, evade buff from fire grim. The evade buff shows up first. You need to have one of the rear guard players (min, hnt, rk, lm) watch the buff and tell everyone else when it reaches ~50%. Everyone jumps onto Fire grim first, to get rid of the buff, then Immediately jump onto the shadow grim. If you wait, the fire AoE will build and its very, very bad.
After the grims are down, every one hit the Gwath until the evade bonus builds up again.
We found, by going Boss -> Fire Grim -> Shadow Grim -> Boss, it went very smoothly. Guard should keep an eye to make sure grims aren't eating the squishies, and you do want to have some decent dps in the group.
