Found one I think would go PERFECT with your color scheme to replace the small blue "new" button that appears to the left of individual threads with new posts in them:

Actually let me elaborate on that....... What you do is open the file with ImageReady... that way you get all the animation frames to load. But ImageReady sucks for altering things, so at the bottom of your toolbar is a small graphic that if you click it allows you to send the image from IR to Photoshop. Do that and add text, don't reposition it yet though just add it without moving it. Then click the icon to send it back to IR... now this part is very important... click on the FIRST animation pane. NOW move the text to the position you want it and it will auto move in the rest of the panes as well. Then "save optimized as..." and your all set. It sounds very confusing but trust me it really isn't

Ummmm I dunno I have never tried flash.... it could be better but ImageReady is so simple you might want to start with that till you get the hang of animating

Ok, take this for what it's worth (not much), but am I the only one who finds flashing/blinking text and buttons or pages to be really irritating (bordering on painful if it's in a spot that I see all the time, as a permanent fixture it gives me a headache after a while)? I'm just not sure if it's because I was taught to not use those things for webpage design back when I was a programmer, or if it's just a personal thing.

No I do agree which is why I originally only had only the NEW POST one blink because that is the most important one for drawing your attention... Like I told you before Demon.... I am afraid that between the flashing animations and the large number of bright colors you might end up scary away some people because they are soo distracting. Even I sometimes have a hard time focusing on what I am reading. I think you are trying to go for too many cool things at once possibly. I totally understand the urge to use every really cool thing you find but sometimes it just gets to be a tad overboard... But I know you really like it the way it is and I am sure that some others will love it too. Heck I LOVE it... I just get distracted by all the pretty colors and moving objects... Therefore I make a different suggestion... how about creating a second skin that is a tad more simplified for those that are distracted and/or intimidated by all the eye grabbing features you've got? That way your users can choose the skin they are more comfortable with and the forum won't possible scare away potential new users?

hi carolyn and yess ive tried some blinkin graphs and they do extract you a bit from the board and i think in time it wil give you a headace and this forum is not asprine included but i love the collors before it got to this i had 3 diffrent skins with some warmer collors but maybe it s a good idea to make a second skin for the people thnx for the tip nightwolfe keep em coming
